Job Description
Position Overview:
The Social Behavior Change (SBC) Assistant plays a key role in the success of the School Feeding Project by leading initiatives that foster positive behaviors and attitudes around education and nutrition. This position requires a dynamic individual capable of engaging effectively with students, families, and the community to promote school enrollment, healthy practices, and nutritional awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct awareness sessions focused on education, school enrollment, nutrition, and health practices, targeting students, families, and community members.
• Create a gender-balanced environment that promotes inclusivity, ensuring both boys and girls, along with their parents, participate comfortably in all activities.
• Mobilize communities to increase student enrollment and attendance in schools, emphasizing the importance of education.
• Share information about the nutritional benefits of food items provided by the School Feeding Program, specifically bread and fortified biscuits.
• Support and facilitate workshops for parents and community leaders (school shuras) to promote healthy practices and share knowledge on the significance of nutrition.
• Collect and document feedback from community members and participants during sessions to ensure their voices are heard.
• Report findings and concerns to the SBC Officer to contribute to the ongoing improvement of project strategies and activities.
• Develop and implement community engagement strategies that resonate with diverse audiences and promote long-term behavioral change related to education and nutrition.
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in social sciences, education, nutrition, or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in community mobilization, education, health promotion, or social behavior change initiatives.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups.
• Familiarity with basic nutrition principles and educational strategies is an advantage.
• Commitment to inclusivity and gender equality in all outreach efforts.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with flexibility to adapt to changing community needs.
• Proficiency in local languages and understanding of cultural contexts relevant to the communities served.
