Job Description
Position Overview:
The Store Keeper is a crucial position within the School Feeding Program, responsible for the efficient management and safeguarding of food commodities and ingredients at the Food Distribution Point (FDP). This role demands attention to detail, organization, and accountability, ensuring that all food items are received, stored, and tracked accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
• Receive deliveries of food commodities and ingredients, verifying quantities against delivery documents to ensure accuracy.
• Offload food items using proper techniques and equipment to avoid damage and ensure safety during handling.
• Store food commodities in a safe and organized manner, adhering to relevant food safety and storage regulations.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, tracking the quantity and condition of all received items, and reporting discrepancies immediately.
• Implement quality control measures to ensure all food items meet safety and quality standards before distribution.
• Conduct regular stock checks and assist in inventory audits as requested by the District Coordinator or Project Manager.
• Ensure the FDP is clean, organized, and secure, preventing any possible theft, damage, or contamination of food resources.
• Remain on-site at the FDP at all times during working hours to oversee operations and safeguard all resources.
• Communicate proactively with the District Coordinator and other team members about stock levels, potential issues, and any necessary actions to maintain the flow of operations.
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in inventory management, warehousing, or food storage, preferably in a humanitarian or food assistance context.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to keep accurate records and manage multiple tasks.
• Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices for storing food items.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining excellent communication with team members.
• Physical capability to handle heavy items and perform manual tasks associated with managing food commodities.
