Registered with the Ministry of Economy under registration number 1579, ASIO operates as a domestic NGO. Committed to compliance with Afghanistan’s government laws, rules, and regulations, ASIO also adheres to donor guidelines and regulations.

Job Description
Position Overview:
The Food Quality Control Specialist is a crucial role within the School Feeding Project, responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of Bread and the ingredients and High-Energy Biscuits (HEB). This position involves strict adherence to food safety regulations, regular inspections of preparation and storage areas, and proactive risk management, all while maintaining clear and detailed records.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and standards throughout the preparation, storage, and distribution processes of Bread and HEB.
• Conduct regular inspections of kitchens, storage areas, and food handling practices to identify and mitigate risks.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of food safety checks and quality assessments to support transparency and accountability.
• Train and educate Bread Bakers, food distributors, and storekeepers on best practices for food safety and hygiene.
• Continuously evaluate and improve food safety procedures to enhance quality control measures within the project.
• Foster a culture of quality and safety among all stakeholders, ensuring that the program consistently meets established health and safety standards.
• Collaborate with project management to report on food safety issues, suggest improvements, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Food Safety, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in food quality control or safety, particularly in an educational or non-profit setting.
• Strong understanding of food safety regulations and best practices.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to identify potential risks.
• Effective communication and training skills to interact with diverse groups and convey important information clearly.
• Proficiency in documentation and reporting software to maintain records accurately.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and leadership when required.
