Job Description

Position Overview:
The Bakery Supervisor plays a vital role within the School Feeding Program, ensuring that local bakeries adhere to required baking standards for Bread and High-Energy Biscuits (HEB). This position involves monitoring the entire baking process, ensuring quality and quantity of ingredients, and compliance with program guidelines. Bakery Supervisors are vital in promoting food safety and proper nutrition for students while maintaining a reliable supply of nutritious baked goods.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the daily operations of bakeries in assigned districts to ensure adherence to baking standards and program guidelines.
• Monitor the preparation and baking processes for Bread and HEB, confirming that the right quality and quantity of ingredients are used consistently.
• Conduct regular quality checks and inspections to ensure finished products meet food safety and nutritional standards.
• Collaborate with Bakery Staff to enforce best practices in hygiene and food safety throughout the baking process.
• Maintain meticulous records of production processes, quality assessments, and any deviations from guidelines for accountability and improvement.
• Report any issues or concerns related to baking standards, safety, or ingredient quality directly to the Food Quality Control Specialist for immediate action.
• Train and mentor bakery staff on program standards, food safety practices, and quality control measures to enhance their skills and awareness.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the bakeries to ensure ongoing compliance with program requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; further education in Baking, Culinary Arts, Food Science, or a related field is preferred.
• Prior experience in bakery management or supervision, particularly in an educational or non-profit context.
• Comprehensive knowledge of food safety regulations, baking techniques, and ingredient quality standards.
• Strong observational and analytical skills to assess baking quality and identify potential issues.
• Effective communication skills to provide clear instructions and feedback to bakery staff.
• Skilled in problem-solving to address and resolve any operational challenges in a timely manner.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated and proactive in responsibilities.
